Target Beauty Box

Recently you may have noticed that there has been a lot of subscription boxes making their way on to the scene. There are subscription boxes for everything nowadays and people are swooping them up like it’s nobody’s business, and who could blame them it’s nice to get things in the mail especially when the things that you are getting are not bills. Myself I have a little bit of a commitment issue with being billed for something every month so when I seen that I could get this target box without subscribing and just paying $5.00 for shipping I was down. No matter what it had in it I was getting it, but luckily for me this box had some pretty good stuff inside.

This is what the box looked like when it arrived.

Once I placed my order for the beauty box I got an email the same day saying that my order was being shipped. I was pleasantly surprised because my experience hasn’t been that way with other things that I have ordered online. It seemed like no time and I mean no time before I found the box in my mail box. I tend to get overly excited when I’m expecting things in the mail so you know if I was impressed on how fast the box got here that it really did have to be fast.  The box looked just like the picture above a nice black shiny box.

When I opened the box the first things that I seen where the cards that you see displayed along with the other contents in the box in the picture above. One was a 3.00 coupon for target beauty products, there was one that explained what everything was in the box, and another coupon for 20% off of the DermStore.com the coupons were nice especially if I had a Target near by to use them at.

I’m going out on a limb here and saying that this picture is pretty self explanatory. The next one will be too but you can expect a caption anyhow.

Now time for the nitty gritty, how well did the products worked for me. I will post a picture of each one and my thoughts on each of them.

ShampooThe item that I had the least expectations for has became my favorite item in the box and my favorite shampoo right now. I have really thick and wavy hair and in order to get to the point where I will even step out of the house with my hair down I usually have to go through a process of rigorously blow drying and then separating my hair into several sections to straighten it, if I don’t my hair is pretty frizzy and wild looking. I used only Shea Moisture shampoo and my normal conditioner that I had laying around in the shower and when I got out and blow dried my hair I was pleasantly surprised I didn’t have to straighten it. There was still waves of course but my hair was laying down and was actually pretty sleek. I went to visit my mom later in the evening and she even commented on my hair looking good so I brought her the bottle and let her try it for herself. Her hair is even more unmanageable than mine and it did well with her hair too. The only thing I have to warn you about is it doesn’t really make a lot of suds whenever you are using it so just keep that in mind, I’m not use to that so it caught me a little off guard.

hydro boost creamNext, we have the Neutrogena Hydro Boost gel cream for extra dry skin. The sample of this was pretty tiny, a lot smaller than the other samples in the box but enough to try I suppose. I applied the cream after I got out of the shower and it went on well and smoothly. For those of you who don’t like things that have a fragrance or have really sensitive skin this product would work well for you since it is fragrance free. I don’t particularly care if my skin products have a fragrance or not as long as the fragrance it might have is not a bad one. The moisturizer wasn’t oily and my skin did feel softer after using it but their was no dramatic results which is a good thing because if anything drastic happened to me after using any product a few times I’d have some concerns.

make up setting sprayNow this is a product that had my friends jealous to see that I received in my box, Loreal Paris Infallible make up extender. I must live under a rock because I had never heard of such a thing nevertheless I fed off of their excitement and eagerly gave it a try. I must say Loreal was on point with this product. If anyone had ever needed a make up extender it is me. Not only am I the mama of a wild little boy but I am the adopted mama of three even wilder puppies; so you can imagine it’s a rare moment if something is not licking, or touching, or just in my face in general. When I use this spray not only does my make up last through the day but it looks good. It’s kind of like hairspray for your face.

hair spraySpeaking of hairspray TRESemme Tres Two Spray is the next item that I tried. I will be the first to admit that I don’t really like hairspray. I don’t know if it’s from when my mom would style my hair when I was little and about choke me out on the fumes of it and get it all over my face or what, but a girls got to do what a girls got to do and I tried it. The smell and everything is still the same and it’s still the same sticky feeling on my forehead whenever I misfired so nothing out of the ordinary in those aspects, but in all seriousness the hairspray did its job and held my thick head of hair in place after I styled it. I would recommend it to anyone who uses hairspray but for me I believe it’ll be something mom may be receiving as a gift from me in the near future.

maybelline

Last but definitely not least is the Maybelline color elixir by Color Sensational lip color. I lucked out and it was a color that I would normally pick out for myself and not something super bright or really dark just a nice soft pretty color. I have worn this as part of my make up routine since I received the box and I can’t find not one complaint. It goes smoothly on to my lips and doesn’t clump or flake and I don’t know if it was because of the make up extender that I put on to set my make up but it stayed on well throughout the day. After this sample runs out I will definitely be getting some more of it.

So there you have it, I paid a $5.00 shipping fee and got a box full of goodies. I plan on keeping my eyes peeled for the next Target beauty box so I can swoop it up, and who knows I may bite the bullet and sign up for a subscription box or two.
